Inside The Studio: How Artists Make Work

AWITA X Brookfield Properties

March 2025 – May 2025

The initiative by Brookfield Properties x AWITA supports and increases visibility for female sculptors and curators through commissioning opportunities and exhibition platforms.

According to an ArtUK report: for sculptures in London, where we know the name of the artist, male artists have created 85% of the works. Women have created just 13%. Sculptures created jointly by men and women represent 2% of the public artworks – the medium is therefore ripe for a reframe and support through a female lens.

Inside the Studio: How Artists Make Work on show at 30 Fenchurch Street, is an exhibition offering a rare glimpse into the creative processes of 4 Artists Helen Barff, Gabriele Beveridge, Helena Pritchard, and Alice Sheppard Fidler. Each artist submitted a proposal for Of Being Numerous—a public sculpture exhibition at 100 Bishopsgate.

Inspired by George Oppen’s poem, Of Being Numerous their works reflect urban life’s complexities and the balance between individuality and collective existence. The show reveals the inner workings of the studio through drawings, maquettes, and collages, tracing the often messy, iterative journey from concept to form. The original proposals are shown through QR codes.

30 Fenchurch Street is one of the many premier real estate properties developed and managed by Brookfield Properties in the City of London.

By placing art within the lobby of shared-use workspaces, Brookfield Properties celebrates the office space as alternative galleries, giving workers and visitors a moment for looking and a reminder to pause – if only for a moment.

Glassed in Dreams (100 Bishopsgate) and Inside the Studio: How Artists Make Work (30 Fenchurch Street) are free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM until February 2026.
