If you were to give advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you know you deserve.

What are you excited about right now?
Curating an exhibition for the ‘Totally Thames’ festival this September. Entitled ‘Mudlark’, it’s a joint show of still life photography and historical artefacts found along the banks of the Thames by some of London’s most prolific mudlarks. It’s a joy to do something that links my professional life with my hobby - mudlarking!

Which female artist, living or dead, would you invite to a fantasy dinner party and why?
Sofonisba Anguissola (c.1532 - 1625). I’d like to ask her what it was like in the court of Philip II of Spain - she was employed as a lady-in-waiting and art tutor to his third wife, Elizabeth of Valois. For that period she was not allowed to accept commissions or to practice as an artist in the formal sense, yet she painted some of her most beautiful works.
