What advice would you give to women starting in the art world?

My advice to young women in art is to recognise that the art world is very competitive--whatever it is you want to do, be it curator, dealer, advisor, or artist, you will have to succeed in a strong field. And to that end my advice to any young woman in the art world is this: “be well-informed, be bold, and be passionate. Being well-informed is about education, reading, and seeing all the art exhibitions that you can. Being bold means in ideas, projects, and in making an impression on others. Being passionate means have a love of what you do: this will be so important as any career will be full of ups and downs and it is passion that ultimately sustains.

Is there a quote that you have found particularly inspiring, as your career progressed in the art world?

“Art must be an expression of love”

Marc Chagall
