Anastasia Lander AWITA spotlight

What has been your favourite online experience thus far?
I was very much looking forward to AWITA coffee mornings – it is a very supportive environment, and it feels amazing to talk to bold, intelligent and passionate women.

Have you launched any online initiatives?
I have indeed launched an online course on business communication. It is something I have long considered doing, and the lockdown gave me the final push I was lacking before. In 10 short lectures I explain the basic principles of writing a ‘cold email’ – be it a sales pitch, a motivation letter or an application for an art prize. The course is so far only in Russian, but I am now working on adapting it to international audience using English as main business communication language.

Have there been any books that you have read during this period that you would recommend to the rest of our membership base?Bernardine Evaristo’s Girl, Woman, Other – amazing, captivating book, a language oscillating between poetry and prose; Evaristo’s first Booker Prize 2019, as well as the first ever Booker Prize to be won by a black woman and a British black person. This novel explores the interconnected lives of twelve black women, while unpacking uncomfortable truths about racism, feminism, family relationships, sexuality – and so many more.
