Emerging visual arts professionals within the first five years of their career.

  Open to all gender identities: men, women, non-binary, gender-fluid, and transgender individuals.

When/How can I participate?

Join as a member and attend regular online events that make it easy to join from anywhere –whether you're at your desk, on a lunch break, or at home.

Art Career FAQs

Monday 21st October 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

An evening for emerging professionals in the arts, featuring an introduction to NXT GEN, a panel discussion, and networking drinks.

A panel of five arts professionals will share how they dodge mistakes and navigate the visual arts maze.

Tickets are £12 and include a drink.

  • is the Curator, Modern and Contemporary at MOWAA (Museum of West African Art). A Nigerian-British curator and art historian, she specialises in modern and contemporary art with a focus on questions around colonial and decolonial histories in Africa, transnationalism and the politics of representation. Emelife is the Curator of the Nigeria Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2024.

  • is an independent curator, writer, and documentary director who founded Black Curatorial, a consultancy that offers services such as educational programme development, curatorial labs, research funding, events and exhibitions centering nuanced Black cultural production and anti-colonial epistemology across the UK and Caribbean. 

  • is a Consultant and Marketing Coordinator at DRAW Recruitment. She began working at DRAW upon completion of her MA in the Art Market and History of Collecting and various roles at the Royal Academy of Arts. Working on growing DRAW's partnerships Emma has collaborated with The Good Nugget, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, All About Art, ILIKENETWORKING, Kingston University and AWITA(!)

  • is the founder and artistic director of The Cultural Institute of Radical Contemporary Arts (CIRCA). Launched in October 2020 on London’s Piccadilly Lights, CIRCA has expanded globally stopping the clock across a network of public screens and mobilizing the world’s greatest creative minds to broadcast unique works of art that reflect on our world circa now.

  • is a London-based editor and journalist and is currently the Managing Editor of Plaster magazine. She was previously Arts Editor at Wallpaper* and has contributed to leading contemporary art publications, auction houses and arts charities. She hosts panel discussions on art and lectures regularly on art journalism, review writing and access to the arts at universities. She has an MA in Journalism from London College of Communication, a BA in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art and a background in classical music. When she’s not writing about art, she’s making her own.

Membership is £120 per year (£10/month) or £12 per month on a monthly plan

A joint venture directed by the AWITA Co-Founders Sigrid Kirk and Katrina Aleksa and All About Art Founder Alexandra Steinacker-Clark.

We are committed to being forward-thinking, with an Advisory Board that offers guidance to ensure NXT GEN stays valuable to its members, relevant to the sector, and focused on promoting diversity and equity for the next generation of arts professionals

FAQs

  • Absolutely! There are no age limits. If you're interested in an arts career, you're welcome, regardless of your past industry experience. Students and recent grads are also encouraged to join.

  • This program is designed specifically for those pursuing careers in the arts sector, not for practising artists.

  • AWITA is tailored for women, or those identifying as women, with over five years of experience in the arts. NXT GEN, however, welcomes anyone in the first five years of their arts career journey.
