Cornelia Parker

Artst

Cornelia Parker (b. 1956, Cheshire, United Kingdom) focuses on the transformation of ordinary objects into extraordinary art. Through a combination of language cues and visual allusions—with objects squashed, burned, splintered, or stitched—her work highlights the fragility of existence and the continual reconfiguration of matter and meaning. Museums presenting recent her solo exhibitions include Tate Britain, London; Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Based in London, Parker was nominated for the 1997 Turner Prize, elected to the Royal Academy of Arts 2010 and was appointed a CBE for her service to the arts in 2022.
