Build Your Own Art World

Wednesday 5th June, Christie’s London

AWITA’s annual conference brings together 200 women working in the professional arts. The objective is to support the talent pipeline through a day of personal and professional development.

This year, attendees will hear from voices working across different sectors. We believe the artworld can learn from the competencies, challenges, successes and differences of aligned creatives and industries.

The day is designed in a fresh and dynamic format that delivers practical insights. We aim to create a toolkit rich in practical takeaways, case studies, honest conversations, and hands-on workshops. There will be time for reflection, self-awareness, and connecting with peers throughout the day

Arguably Africa’s most influential female in shaping perceptions of contemporary art Koyo Kouoh will kick start the day, followed by a roll call of inspiring changemakers:

  • Leading in Business: 3 powerhouses Tiina Lee, Anna Jones, and Jane Boardman on leadership and recognition.

  • Our Emotional Life Concierge author and broadcaster Mariella Frostrup will respond to delegate’s career issues.

  • Curator and writer Gemma Rolls Bentley will discuss with two artists how to Find the Magic.

  • In a Dragons Den style session entrepreneurs and technologists Suhair Khan and Bernadine Bröcker Wieder will consider creative businesses that merge culture and innovation.

  • Akhera Williams is our poet in residence.

Practical workshops run across the afternoon at sites in and around St James. Sessions include:

Smartphone Content Creation

  • Finding Your Signature Style

  • Somatic Breathwork

  • People Buy People: The Art of Selling Yourself

A closing talk and celebratory drinks sponsored by MarGin will take place back at Christie’s

Roche Bobois is populating Christie's with luxury furniture including pieces for the stage and a lounge area for break out conversation and networking.
