As part of our mentoring programme, AWITA are thrilled to announce our first ‘Walk and Talk’ on the morning of Tuesday 18th July. Members are invited to discuss career challenges in smaller groups of two or three members, alongside a mentor.
The walk will pass Mhairi Vari's multi part sculptural installation ’Support for a Cloud’ which is part of Sculpture in the City 2017. The walk will follow a route across London Bridge, ending at White Cube Bermondsey for coffee and croissants; we will then view the new exhibition 'Dreamers Awake' in the company of exhibition curator Susanna Greeves.
The exhibition brings together over 100 works by women artists, which explore sexual politics, eroticism, mysticism, and identity. Rarely seen paintings by key figures associated with the original Surrealist movement, such as Eileen Agar and Leonora Carrington, are shown alongside modern and contemporary artists including Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Claude Cahun, Mona Hatoum, Linder, Laurie Simmons, Gillian Wearing, Hannah Wilke and many more.
